About ORII
Controlling your devices through becomes a little bit easier - there is a variety of commands that your voice assistant can respond to through the ORII ring. For Apple, Siri: https://www.apple.com/siri/ For the Android, Google Help: https://assistant.google.com/
Yes! ORII comes with 10 different sizes in the box, sizes 4-13, so you can find the one that works best for you. Use the provided screwdriver in the box to secure the bottom part to your ORII. For our bone conduction to properly work, the ring must fit correctly for each size finger.
Current voice assistant voice recognition on the iOS and Android are designed to only recognize your voice, hence the ORII will only recognize your voice when using your device. Moreover, ORII uses bone conduction which if used properly, should only be audible to the person in use.
We’ve found the easiest way to use ORII is by gently pressing the soft part outside the ear canal (the tragus) while using your finger to close off your ear canal. We actually don’t recommend sticking your finger in your ear while using ORII. However, everyone’s ear is a little different, so take a minute to experiment with finger placement on your ear until you feel that you are hearing the clearest audio.
ORII has not been tested as an assistive listening device, but we get this question a lot because we’re using bone conduction. Bone conduction technology has been used to help individuals with conductive hearing loss, where an obstruction prevents sound waves from passing to the inner ear. Bone conduction can bypass any blockage in the outer or middle ear by sending vibrations to the inner ear directly via the bone.

Daily Usage
We design ORII to meet your need for short interactions throughout the day. The ring has a 50 mAh battery that most conservatively delivers one hour of continuous listening time and 45 hours of standby time. Because ORII is designed specifically for those short phone calls and texts sprinkled throughout your day while you’re on the go, the 1 hour of listening time translates to more than a hundred interactions to get you through your day. We’re continually fine-tuning the firmware and bone conduction actuator to manage power consumption and will post updates on our progress.
Although ORII is designed to meet IPX7 water resistance testing, we don’t recommend wearing it when showering or swimming. ORII can resist immersion in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes, practically speaking this means that ORII is splash proof, so you can wash your hands, get caught in the rain, and get sweat on the ring with no worries.
Your ORII package includes a compact charging case and cable that is easy to use with any of your existing USB chargers.
ORII pairs to your phone using Bluetooth and is as private and secure as a smart speaker or a Bluetooth headset you may already own. The ring does not record or store any voice data.
Bone conduction is a natural way of hearing and we actually experience it every day; when we speak, our ears are picking up sound via our skull. Trying covering up your ears and saying something. Congrats—you’ve just tried bone conduction! Traditional headphones use speakers to vibrate the air to send to your eardrums. Bone conduction uses transducers that convert electrical signals into vibrations that travel through bone and directly into the inner ear, bypassing the eardrums. This is why bone conduction—when applied properly—can offer superior audio quality even in noisy environments. The first time you listen to someone’s voice through your finger, it’s unlike anything you've tried before. People have described the experience as everything from having a voice in your head, to feeling like a spy on a mission because you can only hear it when you touch your ear. The vibrations on the finger are very light, almost like a tickle, which you get used to very quickly.
One of our team members wears an Apple Watch, and we have no issues connecting ORII at the same time.

Gesture User Interface
The latest updates include sets of gestures varying across three different situations*:

ORII with phone only
• Double tap pointing up: ORII triggers voice assistant (Siri or Google Assistant)
• Double tap on the wrist and raise: ORII reads out messages ORII with headsets connected**
• Double tap pointing down: ORII skips a current music track
• Double tap pointing to left: ORII plays/pauses current music track

ORII with smart home
• Double tap pointing horizontally: ORII turns smart lights on and off

*Gesture will be updated continuously for the best user experience.
**Android only
At this moment, the four primary gestures (voice assistant, play/pause, skip track, and message readout) remain fixed. For the final iteration of the gesture (a triple flat tap), we will soon allow the customer to set up their own desired feature through the IFTT software. This will eventually allow for gesture control of smart homes, where a tap of the finger could turn on the lights, set alarms and more. Stay tuned as we will soon release this update.
As long as the surface tapped on is somewhat solid enough to result in noticeable vibrations, it is enough for the ORII to recognize. You can tap on anything from your own thumb, your coffee table to your friend’s nose. Just make sure you have two clear obvious taps and a forgiving friend.
Our gesture recognition technology relies on finger vibration, this therefore means that the tap needs to be noticable and not too soft. However, as long as your finger is straight, the vibrations will be accentuated, and a normal tap should be enough to activate the gestures. Note that tapping on a hard surface or bone might make it easier to trigger gesture actions, and you can also adjust sensitivity level on the app.
Though we attempt to minimize false triggers, the gesture feature is relatively new and false triggers sometimes occur. To prevent this, we recommend adjusting the sensitivity on your ORII app and keep up to date with the firmware and software to use the most up-to-date product.
Our gesture technology relies on an embedded gyroscope system that detects the finger movement, hence ensure that the correct angle is being used and it is clear. Moreover, ensure that the two taps are clear and pronounced, the ORII recognizes it by vibrating before the trigger action is done. Also, ensure that your phone operating system, firmware and software systems are up to date.
Troubleshooting
Ring Sizing and Finger Positioning
First find the appropriate ring size within the ORII box. Then, use the provided screwdriver to unscrew and screw on the correct ring size for your finger. We recommend to do this on a flat and clear surface. The fit should feel not too tight and comfortable while not being able to wiggle around freely. This process may take several tries to work correctly.
Connectivity/ Volume Control
Connect ORII to your phone’s Bluetooth by first turning it on by pressing both side buttons until you see a blinking blue light. This indicates that ORII is ready to pair, and you can now connect ORII. Connect the Bluetooth through pressing the button on the side once, ORII should pulse blue when searching for Bluetooth connection. Be aware that you have to connect to both “ORII” and “ORII_BLE”. Since ORII uses Bluetooth, this means that your phone cannot be too far away from the ring. This is not an issue if your phone is in your pocket.
If ORII is connected it should be clearly displayed on the app in addition to your phone’s Bluetooth settings. To test the connection, simply activate the voice assistant through pressing one button and giving ORII a command.
Make sure the firmware and software versions of ORII are up to date along with your phone’s operating system, then try restarting your phone’s Bluetooth and ORII by holding down the two buttons to turn off. Sometimes you might have to forget ORII on your bluetooth settings. Please turn ORII back on and try to pair on Bluetooth again, it should allow you to connect properly this time. If “ORII_BLE” is not connecting, you can go through the app tutorial and there is a pop up button for pairing. If this still does not work, feel free to contact us with more information.
Make sure voice assistant (Siri or Google) is activated and given permission on your device. Make sure you press the ORII side button once and wait for the beep from your voice assistant, then, proceed to speak. Also ensure your phone operating system, firmware and software versions are the most up to date. To test the voice assistant, say a command such as “What's the weather like?" If all of this does not work, contact us with the specific details or Set up your Siri here and Google Assistant here.
The ORII has a dynamic self-adjusting volume depending on the sound of your surroundings and should change based on your environment. However, if you’d still like to manually adjust your ORII volume, you can adjust the phone's volume or use the side buttons for volume shifting: one long button press decreases ORII's volume, and one short press increases volume. We are also currently working on a slider in our app for this adjustment.
After your initial setup, your ORII should automatically connect to Bluetooth as long as the app is running and the ORII is turned on. If it does not immediately connect, head over to your Bluetooth settings to ensure ORII is connected. Once it is connected there, open the ORII app and click the pair button until it is shown as “Connected” on ORII app.

Application & Software
Yes and no. The ORII app needs to be running in the background of your phone operations but does not need to be kept as the currently used app.
This will be a problem as the ORII relies on the voice assistant feature on the phone and allows you to utilize functions through your voice. If this feature is not available and you’ve purchased the product, please contact our team for more information.
If you find your ORII app crashing, check on your Google Play Store/ App Store for the latest ORII app update. We have included new fixes for this bug in the latest update, so this should no longer be an issue.
ORII notifies you when messages come in. The vibration notification works when your phone is on silent mode. If it’s not on silent mode, ORII will be playing out the notification ringtone instead of the vibrations you set on the ORII app. If you still cannot receive your notifications on your ORII, follow the steps below:
1. Open your phone Settings
2. Find Notifications
3. Locate ORII under Notifications
4. Switch the Notification off, and then turn it on again

Voice Recognition/ Commands
ORII has a pair of microphones a mic inside the ring itself that listens to your voice that picks up your voice when in use. This means that you just need to speak in a normal voice (possibly even quieter) and adjust based on the loudness of the surrounding environments.
